Minister's Corner

Geno Merriweather was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. He received his formal education within the Evansville Public School System, where he attended Lincoln Elementary and Central High School. He later attended Indiana University majoring in Political Science.

He later served the City of Evansville as a Civil Rights Investigator for the Evansville/Vanderburgh County Human Relations Commission. During that time, Brother Merriweather became a member of the Line Street Church of Christ and was a faithful member there until relocating to Los Angeles, CA in 1984.

Upon arrival to Los Angeles, he became an active member of the Southside Church of Christ under the ministry of Dr. Carl C. Baccus, and later he served as a member of the West Adams Church of Christ under the tutelage of Bro. Kinwood H. DeVore.

His love for ministry led him to San Francisco where he served as a resident counselor at the Metropolitan House (a group home for juvenile delinquent boys), the Metropolitan Enrichment Center, and the Fresh Start House for recovering men.

In 1991 Geno married Carol Winfield and together they entered the Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock, TX for more comprehensive formal ministerial training. After seminary completion, he completed the Missions program, where he became a part of a church planting team that traveled to San Diego and planted the Sunrise Church of Christ.

After six years in San Diego, Geno and Carol returned to the Los Angeles area as the Associate Minister of the Reseda Church of Christ where he worked closely with Dr. Dewayne Winrow for a twelve-year period.

After approximately a thirty-year period, Brother Merriweather returned to Evansville, IN, along with his wife Carol and daughter Alyssa, to serve as the Pulpit Minister of the Line Street Church of Christ — the very congregation where he obeyed the Gospel of Christ thirty years earlier. He returns not only as a minister of that congregation but as a servant to the City of Evansville and beyond.
